Uruguayan percussionist Ricardo Gómez Antonich is Solo Timpanist with the Montevideo Symphonic Band, Professor of Percussion at the University School of Music and member of the PERCEUM: Montevideo Percussion Ensemble, with whom he has performed countless presentations both home and abroad, premiering compositions specially written for the group and giving first auditions of more than a hundred works from the contemporary percussion repertoire. 

 

He is also a member of the Organizing Committee for the Percussion Festival of Montevideo. He has performed with renowned soloists and directors: William Moersch, Mircea Ardeleanu, Ricardo Gallardo, Jan Williams, Robyn Schullkowsky, Bernhard Wulff, Angel Frette, Christian Wolf, Daniel Gloger, Ney Rosauro, Charles Dutoit, Alejo Pérez and Lothar Zagrosek, among many others. 

 

He keeps a busy schedule as a popular musician, mainly with composer Fernando Cabrera, with whom he has recorded several works for the Ayuí / Tacuabé label. He has played and/or recorded with some of the most important artists in his country, including Leo Maslíah, Jorge Schellemberg, Osvaldo Fattoruso and Mariana Ingold, Rubén Rada and Hugo Fattoruso. 

 

His various activities have earned him the support of several institutions such as FONAM, AGADU and SUDEI, as well as several prizes, including two Fabini Awards, the Mikhasoff Trust for New Music and the prestigious Morosoli Award.
